Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a rehab system based on neurologic development which evaluates motor control to assess and treat the musculoskeletal system. The first year of an infant’s development is broken down into specific movements that can be applied to both children and adults. Core stability through proper diaphragmatic breathing and abdominal bracing is the main principle of DNS.

At Elite Sport & Spine, our doctors look for predictable patterns of poor movement or dysfunction within the human body. We can therefore easily correlate these patterns with pain or injury. The Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization model offers the ability to not only treat pain or symptoms, but to identify underlying causes. The site of pain is often merely the weakest link in the movement chain and not the only area that needs treatment. With DNS, it becomes possible to achieve central nervous system coordination of movement and optimize how the body functions and performs.Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

On initial exam, breathing and movement are assessed so individualized treatment may be administered starting on day 1. Specific, simple exercises are chosen based on initial assessment for our patients to perform both in office and at home to truly address the cause of the problem and fix it.
